Greetings from 1691

People's Park hosts Limerick Africa Day on Saturday, free all day. The Makings of a Murderer is at UCH on Thursday evening.

This is our pick of what's on this week. As always for a full event list check out the link at the bottom of the email.

Let's dive in 👇

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Jerry Fish

Friday 22 May · 20:00 · Dolans Upstairs

'Dreaming of Daniel', Jerry Fish's tribute to the late Daniel Johnston, went straight to No 1 on the Independent Albums chart on release and drew a 9/10 from Hot Press. MayKay of Fight Like Apes features on both the record and the live show. Friday night at Dolans Upstairs covers the new album alongside a run through the greatest hits. Jerry Fish live is always music, theatre, and carnival in roughly equal measure, and Dolans Upstairs is the right room for it.

Killian Sundermann: Killian Dollar Baby

Thursday 21 May · 19:30 · Dolans Warehouse

Killian Sundermann sold out Edinburgh and a full UK and Ireland run in 2025. Killian Dollar Baby is his follow-up, from one of the biggest names in Irish sketch comedy with a devoted online following and a proven live show. Dolans Warehouse is the right scale for a performer who fills rooms this confidently.

The Makings of a Murderer: The Undercover Detective

Thursday 21 May · University Concert Hall

Peter Bleksley spent years working undercover in murder investigations for UK law enforcement and built a career telling those stories live on stage. Theatre-style performance rather than a podcast; UCH is a proper venue for it.

Film and Animation Showcase

Wednesday 20 May · 18:00 · Belltable

Student films and animations from the College of FET in Limerick, free to attend. The kind of evening that turns up genuine surprises. Head along to support local creativity

Atlantic Edge: Tide, Time & Place

From Thursday 21 May · Limerick Museum

Una Heaton's new exhibition opens at Limerick Museum this Thursday, drawing on the Atlantic coastline through painting and printmaking. Free to visit throughout the run.

Limerick Africa Day 2026

Saturday 23 May · 12:00 · People's Park

Africa Day returns to People's Park with live performances, sports, activities, and food from across the continent. Free all day and open to all ages. Always a fun experience!

Dance Club for Kids (Ages 3–4)

Saturday 23 May · 11:00 · Dance Limerick Studio

Parent-accompanied movement class for small children at Dance Limerick. A good Saturday morning family option before Africa Day in the afternoon.

The Magic of the Beatles

Monday 25 May · University Concert Hall

Beatles tribute at UCH on Monday evening, covering the full catalogue. The UCH has the acoustics to do justice to this kind of production.

Pint of Science: Big Moves Tiny Molecules

Tuesday 19 May · 19:00 · JJ Bowles

Molecular biology explained in a pub, as part of the international Pint of Science festival. Accessible, no background required, and JJ Bowles is a decent venue for it.
