Limerick Literary Festival 2026 - In Honour of Kate O'Brien Friday 27 February to Sunday 1 March Belltable, Lime Tree Theatre & venues across Limerick

Limerick's annual literary festival returns this weekend in honour of the city's own Kate O'Brien - novelist, playwright, and one of the great Irish writers of the 20th century. The three-day programme is genuinely packed. It opens Friday evening at the Belltable with Éilís Ní Dhuibhne in conversation with Sarah Gilmartin. Saturday brings a full day of author events including David Park, Muriel Barbery, Eoin MacNamee, and Veronica O'Keane, plus a reflection on the life and work of Maeve Kelly. Sunday closes with the Kate O'Brien Award presentation, a rehearsed reading of "A Distinguished Villa," Miriam O'Callaghan in conversation with Alan English, Desert Island Books, and Gráinne O'Brien. Twilight Thursday - February Edition Thursday, 26 February, from 18:00 Multiple venues, Limerick City Centre

Limerick's monthly late-night city programme is back on February 26th, with the whole city centre coming alive after dark - live entertainment, free workshops, heritage events, late-night business openings, and family-friendly activities scattered across dozens of venues.
