Limerick Literary Festival 2026 - In Honour of Kate O'Brien Friday 27 February to Sunday 1 March Belltable, Lime Tree Theatre & venues across Limerick

Limerick's annual literary festival returns this weekend in honour of the city's own Kate O'Brien - novelist, playwright, and one of the great Irish writers of the 20th century. The three-day programme is genuinely packed. It opens Friday evening at the Belltable with Éilís Ní Dhuibhne in conversation with Sarah Gilmartin. Saturday brings a full day of author events including David Park, Muriel Barbery, Eoin MacNamee, and Veronica O'Keane, plus a reflection on the life and work of Maeve Kelly. Sunday closes with the Kate O'Brien Award presentation, a rehearsed reading of "A Distinguished Villa," Miriam O'Callaghan in conversation with Alan English, Desert Island Books, and Gráinne O'Brien.
